Nikon D5200 24.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Black): Product Description
From the Manufacturer
Discover New Perspectives with Nikon’s Inspirational D5200
From beautiful still photos to smooth Full HD movies, Nikon’s D5200 can’t wait to bring out your creative side. The third in this D-SLR series, the D5200 offers a huge leap in image quality. The high resolution vari-angle LCD monitor empowers your vision with unique views. The 24.1 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor captures finely detailed images and the advanced 39-point autofocus system is always on target. Nikon’s amazingly accurate 2,016 pixel light metering sensor ensures exact exposures in even difficult lighting conditions. You can render special effects for movies or stills in real time and Nikon’s optional WU-1a wireless mobile adaptor lets you send your creations straight to a compatible smart device for instant sharing. Ideal for anyone with a passion for photography, the D5200 is an intelligently designed lightweight camera, with clear menus and superior ergonomics, making it a pleasure to manoeuvre and use.
Breathtaking Image Quality
The DX-format, 24.1 megapixel CMOS sensor captures beautifully detailed photos and movies. Combined with the outstanding optical performance of NIKKOR lenses, the high resolution delivers images with vivid colour and striking contrast – ensuring big prints of your photographs look superb and can be cropped without losing any detail.
High Performance Image Processing
The D5200 comes equipped with the new EXPEED 3 image processor, also used in high-end models such as the D4. It provides high-speed operation and remarkably clear images with rich colour reproduction. Eyelashes and hair are rendered sharply and skin texture is reproduced more faithfully. Expeed also processes multiple tasks such as active D-lighting, high ISO noise reduction and continuous shooting without sacrificing speed or quality.
Shines in Low Light Situations
Enjoy the freedom that great low-light performance brings. The high ISO capability (100–6400 which is extendable to 25600) delivers brilliant shots in dark or poorly lit environments and produces sharp images of fast moving subjects. Setting high ISO sensitivity enables you to shoot at faster shutter speeds and capture pictures while avoiding image degradation caused by camera shake even in low-light situations or when shooting a moving subject. This superior high-sensitivity performance is also effective for D-Movie allowing you to record first-rate movies without the need for large-scale lighting equipment even when light is scarce.
Capture Fleeting Moments
The Nikon D5200 shares an AF system, metering sensor and scene recognition with the Nikon D7000 series, giving this camera a new level of performance and much enhanced image quality. The superior accuracy of the 39-point AF system and nine cross-type sensors delivers razor sharp images by maintaining focus on even the smallest subjects however unpredictable their movements may be. Meanwhile, the 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor delivers precise metering for exact exposures and sends data to the camera’s scene recognition system to optimise auto exposure, focus and auto white balance immediately before the shutter is released. And continuous shooting at 5fps means you won’t miss that fast-moving action shot.
Amazing Images from Any Angle
Flip it, tilt it, turn it – explore your creativity with the D5200’s versatile high resolution 7.5cm (3-inch), 921k dot vari-angle LCD monitor. This swivel monitor gives you the ultimate freedom and flexibility to take great shots and movies from virtually any position or point of view including great self-portraits.
Captures More Detail
In-camera High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing captures more detail when you shoot in high-contrast lighting conditions. Ideal for stationary subjects, the camera takes two shots at different exposures during a single shutter release and then combines them into one stunning image with natural contrast. If your subject is on the move, active D-lighting helps you retain the details in both dark and bright areas when you shoot images in strong light, or in backlit situations.
Distinctive HD movies
The superb combination of the DX-format, 24.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and the NIKKOR lenses allows you to record full (1080p) HD movies with sharpness, clarity and fluid motion. With the flick of a switch, you can effortlessly alternate between shooting stills and Full HD movies with smooth recording (up to 60i/50i).
Nikon’s highly praised live view autofocus has full-time-servo AF (AF-F) and subject-tracking AF that keep your subjects sharp, even when they are in motion. Face-priority AF can instantly detect up to a maximum of 35 faces in a scene. In combination with NIKKOR lenses, the D5200 delivers fast, accurate autofocus during video shooting.
Inspirational Special Effects
Expand your creative possibilities and achieve even greater originality by adding striking effects to your movies and still photos. A range of special effects are available to use; for example, selective colour isolates any colour within the scene; silhouette creates dramatic images with silhouettes of subjects against a bright background and colour sketch creates colour outlines of the subject that are played back as a series of stills in a slide show. There are a total of seven effects and each mode can be applied in real time to images and movies through Live View so you can see exactly what your final creation will look like before you shoot.
Shoots the Scene Beautifully and Automatically – 16 Scene Modes
By selecting a mode according to the scene, the D5200 automatically chooses the most appropriate settings to deliver a perfect image. Each mode optimises the camera settings, such as shutter speed, ISO and aperture to the situation you are shooting. This allows you to capture amazing scenes which previously had been difficult to shoot.
Scene Modes include: Portrait, landscape, child, sports, close up, night portrait, night landscape, party/indoor, beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn, pet portrait, candlelight, blossom, autumn colours, food.
Optional Wireless Capabilities
Share images that you are proud of by wirelessly transmitting them from your camera to an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet using the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adaptor. This means you can share your creations with friends via social networks and email for instant reactions. It is even possible to control your camera remotely from your smart device to help you take great shots without disturbing the subject.
And using your smart device or one of the optional WR-R10 or WR-T10 wireless remote control units, lets you control key camera functions from a distance, even if there are obstacles between you and the camera. Ideal for shooting self-portraits or preventing camera shake during shutter release.
Finally, by using the optional GP-1 unit, the D5200 can record the exact location each time a picture is taken, truly enabling future trips down memory lane.

I was very confuse with Canon & Nikon, Like everyone. And even after some website Visits & Youtube I was not clear, which one to go for. The best contender was 700D. I Previously using 1100D of my brother & very much pleased with that. So Canon Or Nikon ??
Then Amazon made my mind clear, by showing the 12k price difference between D5200 & 700D. And I Ordered D5200.
Now Happy & Satisfied with my purchase. Thanks to Amazon.in once again.

I was basically waiting for the D3300 for its newer sensor and Image processor, but once it was released, I realized that the D5200 was the same price as the D3300 after a heavy discount.
Overall, at this price this is one of the best cameras available.
1. Great image quality
2. Low noise at high ISOs. I generally don’t see any noise till ISO 3200, but even at ISO 6400, noise is minimum and can generally be removed using DXO 9
3. Continuous shooting is nice. I can shoot indefinitely at around 2-3fps (RAW) using a Sandisk 90Mbps card
4. Battery life is good. I can easily get by with one full day even with a Dawmtech GPS module attached. However, for people who want to get a second battery, I suggest them to get the EN-EL14A instead, as it provides more shots per charge
5. In Camera HDR is more of a gimmick. It doesn’t account for movement between shots and the resulting Dynamic Range isn’t quite high. Better to manually bracket shots at -2,0,+2 and use a software like Photomatix for HDR.

First of all, I am very impressed with the on the delivery time of the product. I ordered it on 11th Dec, and I received the product on 12th Dec, that’s today… That’s amazing… !!!!!
Second, the packing was really impressive. I received a package in the size comparative to Microwave Owen. Inside it, lied the Nikon kit in middle of some 15 plastic air bags… And the product is a brand new kit, with the seal unopened.
Third, the camera bag…. I assumed it to be a small one, but was surprised to see a big bag enough to place 2 individual lenses, along with camera body and all accessories.
So as of now I am completely satisfied with the delivery time, condition and accessories of the package. I will soon post the review of the camera too.

I have researched a lot about entry level DSLRs before zeroing in at this purchase. The prices offered here at Amazon are also competitive and better than some of the retailer’s prices here in my place. I am new to DSLR photography and learning the tits and bits of it and as far as my consideration, this camera produces stunning results. I also coupled the camera with the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G lens and there is a huge improvement in low light performances. The kit lens (18-55mm VR) is also good for casual everyday shooting. You won’t regret if go for this camera!
