This quad is so awesome!!! I flew it right out of the box! Well, after charging the batteries of course. It is my first quadcopter. I thought I start out small before I go get the bigger quadcopters. I flew it three times before writing this review. The LED is good and helps with orientation. The batteries charged up fairly quick. I was able to get 5mins of flight time per charge. Flight dynamics are responsive enough for me to hover. I did however calibrated the copter a few times before flight. I adjusted the trim as close as possible to where it did not fatigue my fingers. It has a small controller, I must say it is functional but really small. I am getting better remote controller, the Habsan X4 TX. I did a lot of research and it gave me the same results, get the Habsan X4 TX. I did ordered it before writing this review so I should it really soon. I might give this review another update. Overall, this quadcopter is adequate enough to learn on. I highly recommend getting this or similar if your going to get more expensive quadcopter like the DJI Phantom V2 or better. I’ll get mine when I master these tiny monster! 🙂

These little quadcopters provide the best giggle per dollar ratio for a toy that you can buy. They have provided lots of entertainment for two teenage boys, the wife, grandpa, and me while flying them in the living room and around the house. Originally we bought two of these but it became obvious after the first day that we needed more so now we have 6 of them. I highly recommend buying two per person because the charging time is about 40 minutes and the flying time is around 6 minutes. With two quads per person you can fly considerably more in a session which accelerates the learning curve.

I estimate that each of our quadcopters has at least 30 flights logged and we have managed to kill only one of them. That seems reasonable considering the abuse they have endured. None of us had quadcopter flying experience so there were lots of crashes into the ceiling, walls, floor, and furniture as we learned. These things are so small and light they cause no damage to anything except themselves. Buy lots (!!!) of extra propellers because that’s what takes the brunt of most crashes. The props are cheap and easy to change. To keep it things interesting and to improve our skills we set up an obstacle course of small hoops made from thin wood strips similar to a large embroidery hoops. They range in diameter from 16″ to 24″. Several hoops are scattered around the room and we make up skills games as we go.

One comment on the learning curve for newbies – expect to take at least 5 charges and flights before you feel like you are in command. These little beasts require continuous hands on adjustment because there are no gyros in them. And that is reasonable for the size and price point.

btw – we now also have two Hubsan X4 107L quadcopters. They are an obvious next step up in price and performance from the Nanos/Syncros. Best of all, the Hubsan controllers bind with the Estes quadcopters! In the ‘expert’ mode we can now do flips and rolls that were not possible with the original Estes controller. Yee-haw! If they were any more fun they would be illegal.
